| Summary, etc. | À partir d’une enquête ethnographique, et à travers deux figures de candidat·es (le maire créole et son opposante amérindienne), cet article analyse les transformations des relations entre représentant·es et représenté·es des groupes minorisés à Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni (Guyane) dans les années 2000. Il appréhende le rôle de l’homologie sociale dans la perception qu’ont les habitant·es de celles et ceux qui prétendent les représenter et ce qui forge le sentiment d’être bien représenté à l’intersection du genre, de l’ethnicité et de la classe. Il s’intéresse aussi à la politisation des enjeux de représentation de ces groupes et à ses effets sur les relations de clientèle. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on an ethnographic survey, and through two candidates (the Creole mayor and his Amerindian opponent), this article analyzes changes in the relationship between representatives and those represented from minority groups in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni (French Guiana). It looks at the role that social homology plays in the residents’ perceptions of those who claim to represent them, and it considers what creates a sense of being well represented at the intersection of gender, race, and class. It also deals with the politicization of issues regarding the representation of these groups and its effects on client relations. |
