| Summary, etc. | But de l’étude : Dans cet article nous opérons une distinction entre la fureur qui met en jeu la dimension du corps, et le furieux qui concerne l’être de l’individu. Partant de la psychiatrie classique qui décrivait indistinctement ces deux concepts en les faisant converger avec l’état maniaque d’abord et les liant ensuite à l’état de manie-mélancolie, nous les avons distingués, en opérant une analogie entre : furieux et mélancolie, d’une part; et fureur et manie, d’autre part. Patients et méthode : La méthode est, d’une part, clinique : elle prend appui sur les entretiens avec les patients-détenus suivis en milieu carcéral; d’autre part elle s’inscrit dans une méthodologie de recherche pluridisciplinaire visant à entrecroiser les domaines épistémologique, psychanalytique et littéraire. Résultats et discussion : Par les apports conceptuels de la psychanalyse, nous avons isolé la surestimation de l’objet – obligée ou volontaire – en tant que phase prodromique à l’état de la fureur. Cette surestimation se révèle lorsque l’objet détient un pouvoir sur le sujet, ce, dans les deux cas de figure : objet d’amour, objet-aimé, et objet tout-puissant, objet-haï. La fureur et le furieux s’expriment alors dans un Temps 2, tandis que le Temps 1 résonne avec le processus de la mélancolie dont les trois conditions sont : perte de l’objet, ambivalence et régression de la libido dans le moi. Conclusions : La clinique en milieu carcéral et l’apport de la théorie psychanalytique freudo-lacanienne, nous permettent alors de réaliser une différence fondamentale entre le furieux et la fureur, l’un relevant du registre du moi – ou du manque-à-être – (et inaccessible à la conscience) et l’autre relevant du corps. |

| Summary, etc. | Aim of the study: In this article we make a distinction between fury that brings into play the dimension of the body, and the furious which relates to the being of the individual. Starting from classic psychiatry that described these two concepts without distinction, making them converge firstly with the manic state, then linking them with the state of mania-melancholia, we have gone on to make a distinction between them. A distinction made by operating an analogy between : furious and melancholia on the one hand; and fury and mania on the other. Patients and method : The method is in part clinical : based on discussions with patients/prisoners who are being followed in the prison environment; and for the other part encompassed within a multidisciplinary research methodology aimed at combining epistemological, psychoanalytic and literary domains. Results and discussion : Through the conceptual input of psychoanalysis we have isolated the overestimation of the object – imposed or voluntary – as a prodromal phase to the state of fury. This overestimation becomes apparent when the object holds power over the subject, this in the event of either one of two scenarios : object of love, loved object, or all powerful object, hated object. Fury and the furious express themselves thus in a 2nd Instance, while the 1st Instance resonates with the process of melancholia whose three conditions are : loss of the object, ambivalence, and regression of the libido into the self. Conclusion : Clinical practice in the prison environment and the input of Freudian-Lacanian psychoanalytic theory allows us therefore to mark a fundamental difference between the furious and fury; the one belong to the sphere of the ego – or of the want-to-be (manque-à-être) – and inaccessible to the conscious; the other relates to the sphere of the corporeal. |
