520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The article presents the psychosomatic thinking of the Scottish psychoanalyst James Lorimer Halliday (1897-1983). A pioneer of psychosomatics in the United Kingdom, his work is generally ignored. However, his work inaugurates an innovative approach to psychosomatic disorders combining psychological etiology and social causality. He is credited with having introduced in 1943 the expression “psychosomatic medicine” as well as that of “psychosomatic illness”. We also owe him the writing of the first psychobiographical work focused on psychosomatics: Mr. Carlyle – My Patient. A psychosomatic biography. Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) is a Scottish writer, essayist, mathematician, translator and philosopher whose influence was important in the Victorian era.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. A psychosomatic Biography.
