Summary, etc. Searsia tripartita (Ucria) Moffett (sumac) is a very abundant species in North Africa, especially in the steppes of desert, arid, and semiarid areas. It is commonly used in different systems of traditional medication for the treatment of diseases and ailments of human beings. Several compounds such as flavonoids, condensed tannins, and phenolic compounds have been isolated from different parts of the plant. Pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, antiulcer, antibacterial, antifungal, antidiarrheal, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, and anticancer activity have been reported. In this review, the current knowledge on the botany, ecology, phytochemistry, pharmacology, uses, and medicinal properties of the Searsia tripartita are outlined.

Summary, etc. Searsia tripartita (Ucria) Moffett (sumac) de la famille des Anacardiaceae est une espèce très abondante en Afrique du Nord, en particulier dans les steppes des zones arides et semi-arides. Elle est couramment utilisée en médecine traditionnelle pour le traitement de différentes affections. Plusieurs composés tels que les flavonoïdes, les tanins condensés et les composés phénoliques ont été isolés à partir de différentes parties de la plante. Des activités pharmacologiques telles que l'activité antioxydante, antiulcéreuse, antibactérienne, antifongique, antidiarrhéique, anti-inflammatoire, antipaludéenne, cardioprotectrice, hépatoprotectrice et anticancéreuse ont été rapportées. Cette revue bibliographique est un résumé de la description botanique, de l'écologie, de la phytochimie, de la pharmacologie, et des utilisations traditionnelles de Searsia tripartita.
