Summary, etc. Context: During the pandemic, teleconsultation, a sub-category of telemedicine, is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative mode of health care delivery. The integration of this type of virtual care in routine clinical care involves significant changes in traditional role and health care practices especially when considering communication skills for the patient-provider relationship. Although this type of delivery mode and long-term use of teleconsultation is dependent on the development of new skills, education and training provided by health profession programs remains sparse. Since the onset of COVID-19, the use of teleconsultation is in the spotlight to provide a safe and effective way to communicate with patients. Objective: Thus, the present article offers a critical view about the growing demand for teleconsultation from a clinical perspective and the need for the development of a formal curriculum for future health professionals.

Summary, etc. Contexte: En ce temps de pandémie de Covid-19, la téléconsultation, qui permet de communiquer avec un professionnel de la santé qui n’est pas au même endroit, évolue rapidement, car elle représente une façon novatrice d’assurer des services de soins de santé à distance. Un tel dispositif s’accompagne d’une réorganisation du travail collaboratif entre les différents acteurs impliqués et crée un cadre thérapeutique unique impliquant des mutations dans la relation soignant-patient. Bien que la téléconsultation génère une nouvelle façon de travailler et de nouvelles compétences professionnelles, force est de constater que l’offre de formation pour les futurs professionnels de la santé quant à l’utilisation de ce dispositif est lacunaire. Cela est d’autant plus flagrant dans le contexte actuel de la Covid-19 où le renouvellement des pratiques est une occasion privilégiée pour repenser à l’intégration de cette technologie et aux enjeux de formation pour les futurs professionnels de la santé. Objectif: Cet article présente un point de vue critique sur la téléconsultation en montrant les besoins de formation que cette dernière impose et des pistes de formation afin de développer les compétences nécessaires à sa mise en œuvre.
