| Summary, etc. | La science peut-elle informer la décision politique ? Peut-elle comprendre l’objet politique sans se mettre à la place de celui qui décide ? La position d’Aron sur ces questions s’est forgée au travers d’une confrontation critique avec l’œuvre de Weber. Selon lui, loin de seulement fournir le critère d’une méthode rigoureuse, la neutralité axiologique contient une philosophie implicite qui, poussée jusque dans ses conséquences ultimes, aboutit à une politique nihiliste. Parce qu’il refusait une telle politique, Aron a tâché de réconcilier la compréhension de la réalité politique avec la nécessité du jugement moral, la tâche de la science et celle de la décision politique. Cette démarche se manifeste particulièrement dans sa pensée de la gouvernance et de la nation. |

| Summary, etc. | Can science inform political decisions? Can it understand the political aim without adopting the point of view of the one who decides? The position of Aron on these two questions was formed through a critical confrontation with Max Weber. For him, far from just providing the criterion of a rigorous method, axiological neutrality also contains an implicit philosophy of life, which, pushed to its ultimate consequences, leads to nihilistic politics. Because he rejected such politics, Aron sought to reconcile the understanding of political reality with the necessity of moral judgment, the task of science and that of political decision-making. This undertaking is shown particularly in his consideration of government and nation. |
