| Summary, etc. | Cet article a pour objectif d’analyser les effets de la réforme de 2004 du contrôle européen des concentrations sur l’efficience du mécanisme de contrôle. Il s’inscrit dans la lignée du programme d’amélioration des performances des administrations de la Commission européenne. En utilisant une méthodologie d’analyse de performance (modèle DEA à périodes multiples sans biais), cet article montre que le cadre technique et législatif actuel dans lequel évolue le processus de contrôle permet d’absorber l’augmentation du nombre des projets de concentration traités par année sans provoquer de tension sur le système. Il est donc construit pour être plus efficient. Néanmoins, même si la réforme a permis de mettre en place un système répondant à l’augmentation du nombre de notifications, celui-ci reste sous utilisé. © 2022 IDMP/Lavoisier SAS. | Summary, etc. | This article aims to analyze the effects of the 2004 reform of European merger control on the efficiency of the control mechanism. It is in line with the European Commission’s programme to improve the performance of its administrations. Using a performance analysis methodology (unbiased multi-period DEA model), this article shows that the current technical and legislative framework in which the control process evolves can absorb the increase in the number of merger projects processed per year without causing strain on the system. It is therefore built to be more efficient. Nevertheless, even if the reform has made it possible to put in place a system that responds to the increase in the number of notifications, it remains under-used. © 2022 IDMP/Lavoisier SAS.
