Jusqu'alors, les efforts de Riyad n'ont guère été couronnés de succès, la mainmise du Hezbollah – principal allié de Téhéran – ne faisant que se renforcer. Les élections législatives de mai 2022 ont abouti à un résultat contrasté pour les Saoudiens. Le camp pro-iranien a perdu sa majorité, mais il a néanmoins réussi à faire élire le président du Parlement. Un nouveau blocage des institutions menace. |

| Summary, etc. | For years, Saudi Arabia has been seeking ways to counter Iranian influence in Lebanon. So far, Riyadh’s efforts have hardly been crowned with success, and the influence of Hezbollah, Tehran’s principal ally in Lebanon, has only increased. The legislative elections in May 2022 produced a mixed picture for the Saudis. The pro-Iranian camp lost its majority, but still succeeded in getting its candidate elected as speaker of the Lebanese Parliament. There is renewed risk of institutional paralysis in the country. |
