| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’impact des transformations économiques a été largement différencié en Pologne selon les secteurs professionnels. Si les ouvriers ont largement subi le poids des restructurations industrielles, les exploitants agricoles ont davantage pu se maintenir en l’état. Des catégories sociales nouvelles sont apparues au sommet de la pyramide sociale suite à la domination progressive du diplôme comme facteur de mobilité ascendante, ou au bas avec les pauvres, les chômeurs, les exclus. Flexibilité de l’emploi et maintien de certaines traditions se sont combinées pour une dynamique d’adaptation considérable de la société polonaise. |

| Summary, etc. | The impact of economic transformations in Poland has been highly differentiated depending on the different professional sectors. While workers have suffered the brunt of industrial reorganization, farmers have better managed to stand their own. New social categories have emerged at the top of the social pyramid, given the growing importance of university degrees as main factors of upward mobility, or at the bottom of the pyramid with the poor, the unemployed, the disadvantaged. A greater flexibility of employment combined with the maintenance of certain traditions has produced a powerful dynamic of adaptation of Polish society. |
