Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | In my 25-year-old professional life in social work, in the community environment as well as in the public sector, I have observed some professionals drifting away in their practices and behaviours. They somehow settled in a form of routine that is not really compatible with the relational and cognitive flexibility which is necessary in this profession of the human. One of my students wrote in her dissertation: “By filling papers, we ‘function’ and tend to forget the human side of social work [...]” On the basis of an empirical approach, I have determined three specific forms of syndroms: the layabout, the technocrat, and the idiot, and situated the actor in the system in which he takes part. |
