| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article propose une réflexion critique sur la recherche en travail social à la lumière de la présentation d’une thèse doctorale ayant porté sur la construction quotidienne de la culture du travail de rue. Après avoir argumenté l’intérêt d’une perspective de recherche sociale qualitative pour étudier la position du travail social à l’intersection des multiples dimensions du lien social, le choix d’adopter une lecture anthropologique pour examiner le travail social de rue est explicité. L’approche et la mise en œuvre de ma démarche ethnographique dans l’univers du travail de rue sont ensuite décrites, puis sont discutés quelques enjeux traversant ce type d’enquête immersive. Enfin, la pertinence d’investiguer l’efficacité symbolique de la construction et de la mobilisation d’un univers partagé entre les travailleurs sociaux et leurs publics est mise en relief à la lumière de mon cadre d’analyse sur la production interactive des mondes sociaux où prend sens et forme l’intervention sociale. |

| Summary, etc. | Ethnographic Research in Social Work: A Case Study of Street WorkThis article proposes a critical reflection of social work research in the light of a doctoral study exploring the cultural construction of street work in everyday life. After arguing the salience of a qualitative research perspective to study the social position of social work at the intersection of multiple dimensions of social ties, an anthropological approach for street work is put forward. Utilizing an immersive investigation, the implementation of an ethnographic approach in the world of street work is unveiled and pertinent issues are examined. Through an examination of the symbolic effectiveness of construction of a shared universe between social workers and their audiences, the analytical framework demonstrates how the interactive production of social worlds gives meaning to and shapes intervention. |
