Summary, etc. | Resumé L’instabilité est l’un des motifs les plus fréquents de consultation en pédopsychiatrie. Le Trouble Déficitaire de l’Attention/Hyperactivité (TDAH) se caractérise par une instabilité motrice, une impulsivité et des difficultés de concentration. Il a une nette prédominance masculine. La classification DSM IV-TR distingue trois sous-types : hyperactivité-impulsivité prédominante, inattention prédominante et mixte. Il existe souvent des symptômes et troubles associés, notamment le trouble oppositionnel, le trouble des conduites, les troubles anxieux et les troubles des apprentissages. Le diagnostic différentiel se pose notamment avec le trouble oppositionnel, le trouble des conduites, mais aussi les troubles psychotiques et les dépressions masquées. Le diagnostic se base sur l’examen clinique et l’histoire des troubles recueillie par l’anamnèse. Il peut être conforté par l’évaluation neuropsychologique incluant des épreuves comme un test d’attention soutenue, le Conners’ Continuous Performance Test II. Le TDAH est un facteur de risque de l’abus de substances et de la personnalité antisociale à l’âge adulte. |

Summary, etc. | Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: symptoms, assessment and diagnosis Hyperactivity is one of the most common causes of consulting in child psychiatry. Inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are the key symptoms of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is more prevalent among boys than girls. According to DSM IV-TR, ADHD has three subtypes: predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, predominantly inattentive and combined. Common comorbid conditions include oppositional-defiant disorder, conduct disorder, anxious disorder and learning disorders. Many other conditions and situations can trigger behaviors that resemble ADHD, such as oppositional-defiant disorder, conduct disorder, psychotic disorders and depression. ADHD is diagnosed via a psychiatric assessment. Diagnosis can be confirmed by neuropsychological testing including the Conners’ Continuous Performance Test II. Children diagnosed with ADHD have significant difficulties in adolescence and adulthood. ADHD is a risk factor for substance abuse and antisocial personality. |
