| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes raisons de l’augmentation des conduites addictives observées chez les jeunes adultes ne sont pas toujours très bien définies. Cette étude avait pour objectif de déterminer d’une part le lien entre les types d’attachement parental et l’addiction aux substances psychoactives et, d’autre part, le type d’attachement et la substance psychoactive consommée. Il s’est agi d’une étude comparative transversale portant sur deux échantillons, un groupe de 112 sujets présentant une addiction et un groupe témoin de non-usagers. Le groupe des sujets présentant une addiction était composés de tous les sujets présentant une addiction, selon les critères diagnostiques de la CIM-10, et suivis à l’hôpital de juin en décembre 2010. Les sujets non-usagers (primaires ou secondaires) ont été sélectionnés selon la technique du tout-venant durant la même période, parmi les accompagnants de malades et visiteurs de l’hôpital. Le type d’attachement parental dans les deux groupes a été évalué par le questionnaire de Bartholomew et Horowitz (1991). Les sujets non-usagers ont un attachement sécure dans 64,28% contre 96,43% de sujets présentant une addiction ayant un type d’attachement insécure. L’attachement insécure évitant est associé à l’addiction à l’alcool, au tabac et au cannabis, l’attachement insécure craintif à l’addiction à l’alcool et au tabac, l’attachement insécure préoccupé à l’addiction de la plupart des substances psychoactives. Cette étude confirme l’influence déterminante dans le choix de la conduite addictive, de l’histoire événementielle du sujet dans son enfance, et en particulier de la qualité des premières interactions de l’enfant avec son environnement. |

| Summary, etc. | Parental attachment and drug addiction: a Togolese cross-sectional comparative studyReasons for drug addiction increase in young adults are not fully understood. The study aimed at exploring the relationship between drug addiction and parental attachment, and between the type of attachment and the chosen drug. Method : comparative cross-sectional study carried on a sample of 112 drug abusers and 112 participants with no history of drug abuse. Drug abusers, according ICD-10 classification, were selected among patients receiving care in the hospital from June to December 2010. The second abstinent (primary or secondary) group was selected during the same period among visitors and people accompanying patients in the hospital. The type of parental attachment in both groups was assessed by the questionnaire of Bartholomew and Horowitz (1991). Results : participants with no history of drug abuse had a secure attachment in 64.28% of cases whereas 96.43% of addiction ‘patients had insecure attachment types. Avoiding insecure attachment type was associated with alcohol, tobacco and cannabis abuse, apprehensive insecure attachment type with alcohol and tobacco abuse, insecure preoccupied attachment to almost all drug abuse. Addiction behaviors were strongly correlated with the type of parental attachment. Discussion : results supported the definite influence for addictive choice, of early childhood events, in particular the quality of the child’s first interactions with the familyl environment. |
