| Summary, etc. | Au Burkina Faso, il existe une amélioration de l’accès aux soins psychiatriques dans l’ensemble du pays. Cependant, il est courant d’observer dans les rues des grandes villes, des malades mentaux errants, cohabitant avec le reste de la population. Cet article, purement descriptif, visait à cerner les déterminants socioéconomiques et culturels, pouvant expliquer l’abandon sans soins de ces patients dans la ville de Ouahigouya. À la lumière de nos résultats, trois principaux types de facteurs ont été notés et pourraient expliquer cette situation : la pauvreté économique, l’absence de dispositif public de prise en charge des malades mentaux errants et la tolérance culturelle à la présence des malades mentaux errants non violents. |

| Summary, etc. | Socioeconomic and cultural factors for wandering in urban Burkinabe with mental illnessIn Burkina Faso, there is an improvement in access to mental health services across the country. However, it is common to see along the streets of major cities, wandering mentally ill, cohabiting with the rest of the population. This article, purely descriptive was to identify socioeconomic and cultural determinants, explain the abandonment without care of these patients in the city of Ouahigouya. In light of our results, three main types of factors were noted and could explain this situation : economic poverty, lack of device for wandering mentally ill care, and cultural tolerance to the presence of non violent wandering mentally ill. |
