Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Characteristics of psychic functioning among domestic violence perpetrators. Abandonment in questionDomestic violence is a major public health issue in France. Among the elements taken into consideration in the emergence of this type of violence appear biological, social, and psychological factors. Personality traits such as immaturity, impulsivity, self-centeredness, and a tendency for jealousy stand out among the psychological factors. Further, numerous scientific studies, in particular Canadian ones, have highlighted the preponderance of an insecure attachment type among perpetrators of domestic violence. From a psychoanalytic point of view, these individuals, more frequently men, are often confronted with an emotional dependence regarding women linked with both narcissistic problems as well as the prevalence of an influential, archaic maternal image. The dynamics of taking action, triggered by anguish over the lost object and the confrontation of its absence, appear in an attempt to heal unhealed internal wounds by means of altering one’s relationship with the primary object. When viewed from this perspective, putting individual psychodynamic psychotherapy in place based around these issues can be of interest as an integral part of the management of these individuals. |
