| Summary, etc. | En s’appuyant sur les monographies comparées de trois complexes agro-industriels dans les années 2010 au Cameroun, l’article rend compte des processus qui ont vu ces espaces concédés à des entreprises entamer leur intégration au territoire politique. Dans un contexte marqué par les privatisations et l’augmentation des surfaces, il décrit le redéploiement à première vue surprenant des pouvoirs locaux et du langage de l’officiel au sein et aux abords de ces espaces isolés et enclavés. Pour cela, il suit le positionnement particulier des quelques cadres d’entreprises qui atteignent des formes de notabilisation à l’échelle locale. Il se penche également sur la sociogenèse, dans le creuset des relations sociales auxquelles donne lieu la plantation, d’institutions locales toujours plus nombreuses et reconnues par l’administration (collectivités locales, subdivisions administratives, chefferies de tous types). En faisant le récit des mobilisations qui ont affecté les entreprises de plantation ces quinze dernières années, l’article montre également que ces différents complexes, y compris le seul d’entre eux à avoir conservé son statut d’entreprise parapublique, ont été exposés à des revendications similaires et à l’imposition d’obligations sociales comparables envers leurs employé·es et les communautés riveraines. Entre bricolages et compromis, ces espaces ont ainsi suivi chacun à leur manière une trajectoire d’intégration au maillage politique du territoire tel qu’il s’est redéployé ces deux dernières décennies. L’article témoigne en ce sens du dynamisme des pouvoirs locaux au Cameroun dans le contexte d’une décentralisation politiquement verrouillée. |

| Summary, etc. | Based on a comparative ethnography of three Cameroonian agribusiness complexes in the 2010s, this article describes the processes through which these spaces, landlocked and granted to powerful enterprises, have been progressively integrated into the political territory. In a context marked by privatization and a rise in the areas dedicated to industrial agriculture, it describes an a priori surprising burgeoning of local authorities and spread of the language of officiality inside and nearby these isolated “enclaves”. To that purpose, it follows the making of local notabilities out of some specific members of each company’s staff. It also studies the sociogenesis, rooted in the daily interactions that characterize the industrial plantation areas, of a rising number of local institutions able to gain official recognition from the public authorities (local communities, administrative subdivisions, chiefdoms of different kinds). By describing some of the numerous mobilizations that have affected these companies over the last decade, this article shows that all the complexes (even the only one that remained a parastatal) have been exposed to similar demands and the imposition of comparable social obligations toward their employees and neighboring communities. Through improvisation and incremental accommodations, each of these diverse spaces has therefore in its own way followed a trajectory of integration into the political and institutional framing of the territory as it has been reinvented over the last two decades in Cameroon. In that sense, this article also bears witness to the vitality of local authorities in that country, in the framework given by a politically locked decentralization. |
