| Summary, etc. | Introduction : Un état de stress post traumatique lié au premier rapport sexuel n’est pas rare chez la femme. Cependant, il reste peu documenté. Objectif : Etudier l’état de stress post traumatique lié premier rapport sexuel chez les femmes dans une commune du nord-ouest Bénin. Méthodes : Étude transversale descriptive à visée analytique menée de décembre 2022 à septembre 2023. Un échantillonnage aléatoire stratifié à trois degrés a été utilisé. La population source était constituée des femmes âgées de 16 ans et plus dans la commune de Tanguiéta. La variable dépendante était l’état de stress post traumatique lié au premier rapport sexuel évalué avec l’échelle Post-traumatic disorder check list scale (PCLS). Résultats : Au total, 214 femmes ont été inclues. La moyenne d’âge était de 24,9 ± 4,9 ans avec des extrêmes de 16 et 37 ans. La tranche d’âge la plus représentée était celle de 16 à 25 ans (67,3 %) chez les femmes ayant développé un état de stress post traumatique. La prévalence de l’état de stress post traumatique lié au premier rapport sexuel était de 24,3 %. Les facteurs associés étaient la régularité du cycle menstruel (p=0,009), l’auto description d’un comportement extraverti (p=0,008), le visionnage d’éléments pornographiques (p=0,028), la précocité (avant 16 ans) du premier rapport sexuel (p=0,048), les souvenirs désagréables du premier rapport sexuel (p<0,001) et la dégradation de la relation avec le partenaire après le premier rapport sexuel (p<0,001). Conclusion : Si l’éducation sexuelle reste le meilleur moyen de protection des filles/femmes dans le domaine de la sexualité, la proposition d’accompagnement médicopsychologique pour celles qui en ont besoin s’avère nécessaire. |

| Summary, etc. | Introduction: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) related to first intercourse is not uncommon in women. However, it remains poorly documented. Objective: To study post-traumatic stress related to first sexual intercourse among women in a commune in north-west Benin. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study conducted from December 2022 to September 2023. Three-stage stratified random sampling was used. The source population was women aged 16 and over in the commune of Tanguiéta. The dependent variable was post-traumatic stress related to first sexual intercourse assessed with the Post-traumatic disorder check list scale (PCLS). Results: A total of 214 women were included. The mean age was 24.9± 4.9 years, with extremes of 16 and 37 years. The age range most represented was 16 to 25 years (67.3 %) among women who developed post-traumatic stress disorder. The prevalence of PTSD related to first intercourse was 24.3 %. Associated factors were regularity of menstrual cycle (p=0.009), self-description of extroverted behavior (p=0.008), viewing of pornographic material (p=0.028), earliness (before age 16) of first intercourse (p=0.048), unpleasant memories of first intercourse (p<0.001) and worsening relationship with partner after first intercourse (p<0.001). Conclusion: While sex education remains the best means of protecting girls/women in the field of sexuality, the provision of medical/psychological support for those who need it proves necessary. |
