| Summary, etc. | La quasi-unanimité de la presse française quant à l’excellence du dernier ouvrage d’Élisabeth Roudinesco, Sigmund Freud en son temps et dans le nôtre, qui s’est d’ailleurs traduit par un prix littéraire, a de quoi laisser perplexe. Notre réaction comporte deux volets. D’abord, trois cas de figure illustrent la manière dont l’auteure vilipende ceux qui osent critiquer la psychanalyse. Ensuite, nous mettons en relief le fait que l’auteure utilise trois procédés pour transformer la vie de Freud en une histoire romancée, qui trahit la vérité historique. Elle déforme les faits (trois exemples), elle propose des données que l’on sait pourtant fausses aujourd’hui (quatre exemples), incluant sans doute ses sources documentaires, et elle omet des éléments cruciaux pour en comprendre d’autres (quatre exemples). |

| Summary, etc. | The reasoning of a believerThe almost general agreement of the French press regarding the excellence of the last book of Elisabeth Roudinesco, Sigmund Freud en son temps et dans le nôtre, which earn the author a literary prize, leaves one puzzled. Our reaction to the book is built around two sections. We show first, with the help of three examples, how the author reviles those who dare criticize psychoanalysis. Then we emphasize the fact that she transforms the life of Freud into a fictionalized story, which distort the historic truth. She misrepresents the facts (three examples), she put forward data that we know false today (four examples), including most certainly her documentary sources, and she omits crucial data to understand other facts (four examples). |
