| Summary, etc. | Le climat mondial évolue, en majeure partie en raison des activités humaines. Les conditions météorologiques moyennes du début du XXIe siècle ne sont pas identiques à celles de la fin du XXe siècle. Compte tenu de l’inertie du système terre-océan-atmosphère-biosphère, quelle que soit l’évolution des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, une part du changement climatique futur est inévitable. La question n’est donc plus de savoir si la société doit s’adapter au changement climatique, mais plutôt d’imaginer comment y parvenir. La démarche d’adaptation, engagée en France au début des années 2000 au niveau national, vise à favoriser l’action à l’échelle locale de la perception des risques et des opportunités. Pour être durables, les projets et orientations de long terme doivent donc être confrontés aux futurs du climat. Cette nécessité nouvelle requiert des innovations en matière de conception, de méthode ou de gouvernance. Au travers de projets de collectivités, d’entreprises ou d’individus, l’adaptation au changement climatique constitue ainsi un levier potentiel d’innovation sociale. |

| Summary, etc. | Sustainable development and innovation: climate change as leverage for social innovationThe global climate is changing, largely because of human activities. The average weather conditions observed in early twenty-first century are not identical to those observed of the late twentieth century. Given the inertia of the earth-ocean-atmosphere-biosphere system, regardless of the evolution of greenhouse gases emissions, a part of future climate change cannot be avoided. The question is no longer whether the society must adapt to climate change, but rather to imagine how to do it. Adaptive approach, initiated in France in the early 2000s at national level, aims to promote action at the local level where perception of the risks and opportunities is more accurate. To be sustainable, long-term projects and orientations must be confronted with the futures of climate. This new need requires innovations in design, methodology or governance. Through communities, companies or individuals projects, adaptation to climate change stands for a potential leverage for social innovation. |
