| Summary, etc. | RésuméEn comprenant la profession de psychiatre comme une application de la neurobiologie, selon le modèle américain, et en souscrivant à l’exigence rigoureuse de limiter la compréhension de la souffrance psychique aux paramètres opérationnels et aux saisies statistiques, les psychiatres courent le risque de perdre la psychothérapie. La psychiatrie continuera d’être de moins en moins attractive pour les jeunes médecins. Ce seront finalement les patients qui détermineront le type de thérapeute en fonction de leurs besoins. La psychiatrie suisse devrait poursuivre sa tradition herméneutique, qui lui a valu une reconnaissance mondiale. Cela est mis en évidence ici à travers deux exemples récents de psychothérapie de la dépression, à savoir l’orientation analytique existentielle et celle écologique relationnelle. |

| Summary, etc. | By American standards, Psychiatry is viewed as a field of applied neurobiology. The understanding of psychic suffering is thus reduced to the strict application of statistic evidence as seized through operational science hence the risk of loosing psychotherapy. Young practioners will continue to be less attracted to psychiatry and finally patients themselves will determine what therapy is best suited to their needs. Swiss psychiatry should continue in its tradition of persuing hermeneutic values for which it is widely renowned. This is demonstrated through two recent psychotherapeutic approaches to depression; i.e.: 1. existential analysis, and 2. relational ecology. |
