| Summary, etc. | Résumé Le rapport de la société à l’usager de drogues, et au toxicomane (l’usager en situation d’addiction), est infiltré des questions tournant autour de la toxicité, donc de la maladie, donc de la santé, de la prévention et de la thérapeutique. Ce travail se propose d’évoquer la question de «l’éducation du toxicomane», entre prévention, information et thérapeutique, à l’instar du mouve~ment socio-sanitaire actuel français, qui prône l’éducation du patient vis-à-vis de sa maladie et de son traitement, suivant ainsi les recommandations considérant que «l’usager doit être au centre du dispositif de soins », et qu’il a des droits reconnus en matière d’information, tout en restant un patient à qui doit être appliqué le traitement spécifique qui convient à ses troubles. Dans le champ des drogues et des toxicomanies, sous l’effet conjugué des protocoles de soins en usage, médicaux et psychothérapeutiques, des discours politiques et scientifiques souvent divergents concernant les vérita~bles dangers liés à l’usage de drogues, et les nécessaires attitudes de santé publique concernant la prévention et les pratiques de réduc~tion des risques, cette «éducation du patient toxicomane » est une figure d’une grande complexité. |

| Summary, etc. | The relationship between society and the drug user, and the addicted person, is infiltrated by questions around toxicity, therefore by issues regarding health, prevention and therapy. This paper is about the «the education of the addicted person» within prevention, information and therapy. Its looks at the subject in the same way the current French socio-sanitary movement does when promoting the patient education on his illness and treatment, and follows the recommendations saying that the «patient should be central in the care process» and that he has recognised rights in the field of information, but remains a patient submitted to a specific treatment that suits to his health problems. In the field of drugs and addictions, this «education of the addicted patient » is of a great complexity, because it relates to the combined effects of the current care protocoles (medical and psychotherapeutic), of the (often divergent) political and scientific discourses concerning the real dangers of drug use, of the necessary positions of the public health policy concerning prevention, and of the harm reduction practices. |
