Freud (à partir de Dostoïevski, vœu de mise à mort du père et châtiment de soi-même… perdre, se perdre aussi, pour libérer l’écriture), puis Bergler (régression orale, masochisme) ont mis l’accent sur la compulsion à perdre du joueur. Entre dette et relégitimation, alors même que le hasard devient rencontre, le gain n’est lui-même qu’un artifice. Simple usufruitier de son gain, le joueur se perd dans les méandres d’une fiction où il s’agit de défier le hasard et d’obtenir ainsi de l’Autre réponse et reconnaissance… |

| Summary, etc. | The addictive dimension seems to specify the irrepressible practice of gambling. Freud (starting from Dostoevsky: wish to kill the father, self-punishment… losing as well as losing oneself in order to enable writing), and then Bergler (oral regression, masochism) emphasised the gambler’s compulsion to lose. Between debt and re-legitimisation, even while hazard becomes encounter, winning is in itself but a trick. The gambler, a mere usufructuary of his/her gain, gets lost in the meanderings of a fiction where s/he has to defy chance and thereby obtain an answer and recognition from the Other. |
