| Summary, etc. | Après avoir resitué dans son contexte culturel, éditorial et scientifique, la controverse suscitée par le texte inaugural de Gilles Gauthier, cette contribution vise trois objectifs. D’une part, montrer que l’absence de précisions sur l’espace-temps de production de son texte limite la portée de la critique du chercheur québécois à l’attention d’un public essentiellement français. D’autre part, que cet auteur inscrit davantage sa démarche dans une discussion philosophique du statut des croyances des chercheurs que dans une entreprise de remise en cause épistémologique des méthodes qu’ils emploient. Et qu’à force d’insistance sur les lacunes de ceux qui se référent au constructivisme sans vraiment argumenter leur choix épistémologique, il tend à sous-estimer la fécondité heuristique de travaux récents qui ne s’inscrivent pas nécessairement et explicitement dans un cadre constructiviste, mais en adoptent certaines des méthodes et, ce faisant, contribuent à des changements de paradigme. |

| Summary, etc. | ?This paper tends to relocate within its cultural and scientific context the controversy initiated by the first Gilles Gauthier’s paper appeared in this review. ? ?Then, it aims three main goals. First of all, it shows the epistemic necessity of contextualizing the Gauthier’s critics within the mainstream production of north-American academic sphere in journalism studies, comparing it with the evolution of French paradigms produced in that field. Secondly, it seems to us that Gilles Gauthier gives a greater place to a philosophical discussion about the status of academics’ believes than to an epistemological discussion about the real methods used by their works. At last, we intend to show the added value of some French works led in journalism studies and whose methods are inspired by some elements of a constructivist approach, even if this approach is not necessarily revendicated by their authors.? |
