520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This paper aims at analyzing the journalistic coverage of the genocide in Rwanda by seven Belgian and French daily newspapers. The journalistic field is constrained by both the competition within the field and its specific work regulations. We argue that these factors explain some important characteristics of the genocide coverage. In a first part of the paper, we will examine the main stereotypes used by journalists to interpret the crisis, and secondly focus on the internal tensions of the journalistic discourse between two approaches called by Luc Boltanski the «?feeling of pity?» and «?denunciation?». Our conclusion underlines the fact that journalists mixed different and contradictory types of discourse in order to explain a complex crisis.
