Summary, etc. Face à l’ampleur de la vedettisation et du dévoilement de l’intimité des candidats aux élections présidentielles de 2007, il importe de revenir sur les paramètres et les implications de cette médiatisation en rupture avec la fameuse « exception française » d’opacité de la vie privée des personnages politiques. Loin d’être à l’initiative de la presse échotière stricto sensu, la peopolisation exprime une réappropriation plus ou moins habile des codes des magazines people par une partie des élus et par la presse généraliste. Fondée sur des déclarations de responsables politiques ou médiatiques et sur l’analyse du discours de la presse d’indiscrétions, cette étude vise à vérifier dans quelles conditions la stratégie des candidats qui encouragent leur propre peopolisation s’avère cohérente ou, à ‘inverse, contre-productive, selon les rapports entre, d’une part, leurs intérêts et leur valeurs de référence et, d’autre part, l’univers symbolique et la relation énonciative inhérents au discours people.

Summary, etc. ?Due to the particular interest of the medias in the intimacy of the candidates of the last French presidential elections, who were treated just like show business celebrities, it is necessary to focus on the parameters and consequences of this phenomenon at odds with the famous French exception of secrecy about the politicians’ private life. Far from being fuelled by the celebrity papers (in French, ? ?« ? ?journaux people ? ?»? ?) - the ? ?«? ? peopolisation ? ?»? ? expresses a more or less skilful appropriation of the ? ?«? ? people ? ?»? ? generic codes by the politicians and the quality press. Based on the declarations of political or media leaders and a discursive analysis of the French celebrity magazines, this article aims at examining under which conditions the celebrity politics prove to be coherent or on the contrary inconsistent with on the one hand the principles or ethical values professed and on the other hand the symbolic system and the enunciative relationship offered.?
