Summary, etc. | Alors que les petites et moyennes entreprises (PME) constituent l’essentiel du tissu économique dans la plupart des pays et contribuent plus que les grandes entreprises à la création des emplois (Loubès et al. 2012), la littérature dominante tend à soutenir que la fonction RH y est émergente, peu structurée et révèle des pratiques informelles (Nizet et Pichault, 2000). Prenant appui sur la théorie de la contingence (Lawrence et Lorsch, 1967) et la perspective interculturelle du management des organisations africaines (Tidjani et Kamdem, 2010 ; Jackson, 2004), cette recherche apporte un éclairage sur les débats autour des pratiques de GRH dans les PME africaines. L’analyse des pratiques de GRH (PGRH) de trois PME camerounaises met en évidence (i) la formalisation de certaines pratiques, (ii) le réseau relationnel des propriétaires-dirigeants comme levier de recrutement et de délégation (iii) des PGRH hybrides qui résultent de l’association entre GRH socialement ancrée dans les cultures locales des acteurs et GRH occidentale et formalisée. |

Summary, etc. | While small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) make up the bulk of the economic fabric in most countries and contribute more than larger firms to create jobs (Loubès et al. 2012), the dominant literature tends to support that the HR function is there in emerging, less structured and reveals informal practices (Nizet and Pichault 2000). Building on the contingency theory (Lawrence and Lorsch, 1967) and intercultural perspective of the management of African organizations (Tidjani and Kamdem, 2010 ; Jackson, 2004), this research lightens on the debates of HRM practices in African SMEs. The analysis of HRM practices (HRMP) of three Cameroonian SMEs highlights (i) formalizing certain practices, (ii) the relational network of owner-managers as recruitment and delegation lever (iii) the hybrid HRMP result of the association between HRM socially rooted in actors’ local cultures and Western and formalized HRM. |
