| Summary, etc. | L’article est fondé sur le réexamen, à 15 années d’intervalle, d’une étude sur les pratiques de visite de la ménagerie du Jardin des plantes de Paris qui comprend une analyse du zoo comme exposition muséale et une enquête auprès de visiteurs. Dans la décennie qui a suivi cette enquête, les travaux portant sur des rapports homme/animal, les études de sciences, mais aussi un ensemble de courants scientifiques et intellectuels ont contribué à ébranler la question des savoirs et à développer une attention forte à la pluralité et l’hétérogénéité des savoirs dans tous les domaines où les rapports nature/culture sont en jeu. Ces courants peuvent faire jaillir la tentation de créer une nouvelle avant-garde qui renforce les rapports de légitimité pourtant questionnés. Éclairé par ces préoccupations nouvelles, le retour sur les réactions du public au zoo permet de faire apparaître une combinaison intéressante entre pluralité des régimes de vérité, attachement à la scientificité et ouverture à un point de vue radicalement autre. Cette condition des publics fait directement écho à des tensions vécues par les chercheurs contemporains. |

| Summary, etc. | In this paper, we return to the results of an investigation about practices of visitors in a zoo, le Jardin des plantes, 15 years ago. In the meanwhile, social sciences were strongly affected by new outcomes in sciences studies, animal studies, and by academic, political and cultural interest for plurality and heterogeneity of knowledge. Those trends can create contradiction between necessary modesty and pretention to be again at “the avant-garde” in social sciences. In the context of those preoccupations, the reactions of public in the zoo appear with a new value for the reflexion about plurality of knowledge: the combination of several kinds of truth, desire of scientificity and taste for radical alterity is very telling for contemporary research. |
