Fiction juridique contre fiction poétique Dans cet article, Françoise Lavocat explique la crise de la sorcellerie à la fin du 16e siècle par l’effacement de la frontière de la fiction, qui se repère dans différents champs du savoir, mais surtout dans la nouvelle science démonologique. Son hypothèse est que la fiction juridique de la sorcellerie, en particulier chez Jean Bodin, repose sur le déni de la fiction littéraire ; une des explications de ce phénomène est la disparition de l’allégorie comme dispositif herméneutique à la fin de la Renaissance. |

| Summary, etc. | The Lie of the Land : Legal versus poetic fiction In the foregoing article Françoise Lavocat explains the spate of witchcraft trials at the end of the sixteenth century as resulting from the obliteration of the borders of fiction that occurred in several fields of knowledge, but particularly in the then new science of demonology. She argues that the legal fiction of witchcraft, especially in Jean Bodin, rests on a denial of literary fiction, chiefly owing to the disappearance of the allegorical framework of interpretation at the end of the Renaissance. |
