| Summary, etc. | L’article se donne pour objectif de faire le point, un demi-siècle après sa parution, sur lapostérité théorique de l’Essai sur la Révolution de Hannah Arendt. Il s’attache à chercher les raisons du caractère contradictoire de sa réception dans les tensions internes à l’oeuvre, le caractère problématique de son statut et l’aporie fondamentale qui la travaille. L’impossibilité de séparer radicalement la question sociale et la question politique est au fondement de l’incapacité d’Arendt à indiquer les moyens de faire revivre « le trésor perdu des révolutions » ; mais cet échec même met en lumière les véritables questions qui travaillent toute pensée révolutionnaire. |

It focuses on locating the reasons of its controversial reception in the tensions inherent to the opus, in its problematic status, as well as in the fundamental aporia that lies at its heart. The impossibility to radically separate social and political issues explains why Arendt cannot show how to revive the “lost treasure of revolutions”; but this very failure brings into light the genuine issues that animate from within any revolutionary thinking |
