| Summary, etc. | Cette introduction propose une approche communicationnelle de la mise en (in)visibilité des groupes professionnels dans les espaces publics médiatiques. En complément des analyses consacrées à la mise en image du travail, qui se concentrent sur l’invisibilisation du « travail réel » et des rapports de production, elle entend frayer de nouvelles questions de recherche. Nous esquissons pour cela un cadrage théorique et conceptuel, consistant à rompre avec les définitions substantialistes des professions, pour leur substituer une définition processuelle et relationnelle insistant sur les processus de professionnalisation. Il s’agit de penser le travail de représentation et d’argumentation à l’œuvre dans les espaces publics médiatiques, en tant qu’il participe – selon ses modalités propres – à la constitution des collectifs de travail et à l’affirmation de leur professionnalité. |

| Summary, etc. | This introduction offers a communicational approach to the (in)visibility of professional groups in the public sphere. In addition to the analyses devoted to the portrayal of labour that focus on the invisibilization of "real work" and relations of production, we aim at suggesting new research issues. This text builds a theoretical and conceptual framework that breaks with substantialist definitions of professions. It replaces such definitions by a processual and relational approach that emphasizes the processes of professionalization. We suggest to study the work of representation and argumentation within the public sphere insofar as it participates, with its own means, in the setting of professional groups and the building of their jurisdiction. |
