| Summary, etc. | Parmi les mesures consécutives à la discrimination raciale des Aborigènes australiens par les Britanniques à la suite de la colonisation, l’une des plus néfastes a sans doute été de déposséder les parents de leurs responsabilités vis-à-vis de leurs enfants, dépossession particulièrement brutale lorsque les enfants étaient métis puisqu’ils étaient alors systématiquement retirés de leurs familles aborigènes pour être placés en institution ou donnés en adoption. Les conséquences délétères et persistantes en sont aujourd’hui connues et celles qui touchent la thématique de cet article renvoient au taux de suicide et, plus généralement, à la mortalité prématurée ainsi qu’aux troubles des conduites particulièrement élevés chez les jeunes Aborigènes, notamment les garçons. À partir du récit de la mise en place d’une équipe masculine de basket dans la communauté où l’auteur, pédopsychiatre et ethnologue, travaille depuis plus de 25 ans, elle met en évidence l’un des facteurs de résilience qu’elle a pu repérer : la transmission de la responsabilité relationnelle. |

| Summary, etc. | Following the colonization of Australia, one of the most harmful measures resulting from the racial discrimination by the British against Aboriginal people consisted in divesting parents of their parental responsibilities. This was particularly brutal when the children involved were of mixed descent as they were then systematically removed from their Aboriginal families and placed in institutions or given up for adoption. The ongoing detrimental consequences of this are now recognized and, insofar as the subject of this article is concerned, relate to the particularly high rates of suicide, early death and behavioral disorders among Aboriginal youths, especially boys. An account of the setting up of a male basketball team in the community where the author, child psychiatrist and anthropologist, has worked for over 25 years, reveals that one of the factors of resilience is the transmission of relational responsibility. |
