| Summary, etc. | Sans rechercher le mimétisme avec les médias, Construire l’événement a la force d’impact d’un titre et a fait date comme analyse capitale sur le discours d’information et la construction de multiples réalités à travers un « événement ». Il s’agit en l’occurrence d’une étude de terrain sur un cas précis : l’ accident nucléaire de Three Mile Island du 28 mars 1979 aux États-Unis. Une étude limpide dans sa construction, en trois temps, trois séquences chronologiques : au point d’y voir pour certains un « cas d’école » de l’analyse qualitative des médias. D’autres s’inquiètent au contraire de la surabondance de concepts relevant d’un métalangage théorique pas vraiment présenté ni commenté au fil des pages. Pour éviter une approche trop frontale de l’ouvrage, il est proposé de situer Construire l’événement par rapport aux fondations de la théorie socio-sémiotique d’Eliseo Véron ; puis de regarder de plus près la construction même de ce modèle d’étude sur le discours d’information ; discuter enfin le lien parfois trop direct entre Construire l’événement et le constructivisme, sans même mesurer la place de Charles S. Peirce et du ternaire dans la pensée si productive d’E. Véron, à l’égard de la construction sociale du sens. |

| Summary, etc. | Without seeking mimetism with the media, Construire l’événement has the impact of a title and will be a landmark analysis of the discourse of information and the construction of multiple realities through an “event”. It is a field study of a specific case: the nuclear “accident” at Three Mile Island, in the United States, on 28 March 1979. The study is limpid in its construction, in three times, three chronological sequences, to the point that some see it as a “textbook case” of qualitative media analysis. Others are concerned, on the contrary, about the overabundance of concepts pertaining to a theoretical metalanguage that is not really presented or commented on throughout the pages. To avoid an overly frontal approach to the book, it is proposed to situate Construire l’événement in relation to the foundations of Eliseo Veron’s socio-semiotic theory ; then to take a closer look at the very construction of this model of study on the discourse of information ; and finally to discuss the sometimes too direct link between Construire l’événement and constructivism, without even measuring the place of Charles S. Peirce and of the ternary in E. Veron’s so productive thinking, with regard to the social construction of meaning. |
