Summary, etc. | At the end of the 17th century, decorative gilded bronze elements were multiplied in the decoration of interiors. In the royal residences, the administration of the Bâtiments du Roi was in charge of those attached to the structure and that of the Garde Meuble de la Couronne managed the other elements, including the exception of the wall light fixtures. The Bâtiments du Roi recovered the management of the latter around 1745, and then finally, due to financial difficulties, ceded it again to the Garde-Meuble in 1784, despite their statue of structural fixture. In reality, the Bâtiments du Roi and the Garde-Meuble both provided wall lights, one or the other according to the period. These changes reflect both the complexity of the management of the royal furnishings and the flexibility of those administrations which, in all circumstances, efficiently provided their services to the sovereign. |
