Summary, etc. | L’objectif de cet article est de présenter le rôle d’Ernest Lavisse dans la rénovation de l’enseignement de l’histoire dans les collèges et lycées de son temps. Après le rappel du contexte dans lequel se situe son action, sont successivement présentées ses idées sur les finalités et les méthodes de cet enseignement, ses propositions pour une profonde réforme de la formation scientifique et pédagogique des professeurs d’histoire. Si Ernest Lavisse n’est sans doute pas le seul à s’interroger sur la nécessaire rénovation de l’enseignement de l’histoire, il est celui qui a su définir d’une façon claire et précise la mission du professeur. |

Summary, etc. | The objective of this paper is to present the contribution of Ernest Lavisse in the renovation of history teaching in the secondary schools of his time. After recalling the context in which his action is situated, his ideas are successively presented on the aims and methods of this teaching, then his proposals for a deep reform of the scientific and pedagogical training of history teachers. If Ernest Lavisse is not the only to question the necessary renovation of history teaching, he is the one who has been able to define in a clear and accurate way of the teacher’s mission. |
