| Summary, etc. | L’implantation de la pratique du football-association dans le département du Pas-de-Calais est la conséquence de phénomènes originaux et complexes : l’importation du modèle anglais bénéficie d’un « terreau » favorable, constitué par un maillage serré de sociétés de jeux traditionnels puis de gymnastique et de tir, à partir de 1872. Cette prédestination sportive permet au football-association de s’enraciner à partir de pratiques scolaires, régimentaires, et enfin au sein des premiers clubs : la fondation de l’Union Sportive Boulonnaise (1898), du Racing Club de Calais (1902) ou du Racing Club de Lens (1906) et leurs évolutions respectives permettent de mieux comprendre le processus de structuration du football nordiste ainsi que sa géographie. À la veille de la première guerre mondiale, le football-association est déjà plus qu’une simple pratique sportive, à partir des compétitions organisées par l’USFSA. Il permet l’expression de nouvelles formes de sociabilité et assure la promotion de valeurs originales, tout en affirmant sa dimension populaire. |

| Summary, etc. | The implantation of football-association playing in the Pas-de-Calais department is the consequence of original and complex phenomena: importing the English model can be achieved, from 1872 onwards, thanks to a favourable environment made of a close-knit network of societies for the promotion of traditional games then of gymnastics and shooting. This sportive predestination will allow football-association to dig in its roots through school and army practice, then within the first clubs : the creation of the Union Sportive Boulonnaise (1898), of the Racing Club de Calais (1902) or of the Racing Club de Lens (1906) and their respective developments help us to understand better the structuration process of the Nord soccer as well as its geography. On the eve of World War I, football-association is already more than a mere sporting activity. Through the competitons organized by the USFSA, it allows the expression of new forms of sociability and ensures the promotion of original values, while asserting its popular dimension. |
