| Summary, etc. | Avec ses images et ses mirages Renaissances appartient à l’épais catalogue des revues disparues qui marquèrent leur époque. On lui doit d’importantes pages sur une nouvelle constitution ou la régionalisation, sur la langue française, sur la place d’Israël, ou le mythe de Brazzaville, etc. On y lit les impératifs d’après la Victoire : changer la France (presse, enseignement, armée), l’Europe (quelle future Allemagne ?), le monde (ONU, nucléaire, superpuissances). On y trouve de talentueux collaborateurs : Capitant, Joxe, Funck-Brentano, Sauvy, Camus, Roblès, Roy, Senghor, Césaire… Au centre des préoccupations du fondateur, Paul-Émile Viard, il y a les colonies : pour la seule fois de notre histoire, on rêva de refaire la nation à partir de sa périphérie. |

| Summary, etc. | With its images and mirages, Renaissances belongs to the thick catalogue of disappeared periodicals that were so many landmarks in their times. This was responsible for important pages on a new constitution and on regionalization, on the French language and on the place of Israel, on the myth of Brazzaville, etc. In its pages could be read the post-Victory imperatives: changing France (press, education, the army), Europe (what should the future Germany look like?), the world (UNO, nuclear devices, superpowers). It featured skilled collaborators such as Capitant, Joxe, Funck-Brentano, Sauvy, Camus, Roblès, Roy, Senghor and Césaire. At the center the preoccupations of its founder, Paul-Émile Viard, were the colonies: for the sole time in our history, people dreamed of changing the nation starting from its periphery. |
