| Summary, etc. | La Vita Ermelandi a sans doute été écrite vers la fin du viiie siècle. Elle rapporte les mérites d’un moine venu de Fontenelle en 673 pour fonder un monastère sur l’île d’Indre en aval de Nantes sur l’estuaire de la Loire. La Vita fournit quelques éléments de réflexion sur les origines possibles d’Ermeland et ses liens éventuels avec le pouvoir royal mérovingien. On peut y trouver aussi un aperçu de la spiritualité monastique dans la région nantaise avant les bouleversements des invasions normandes. Enfin cette Vita a été nettement influencée par certaines œuvres de Grégoire le Grand. |

| Summary, etc. | The Vita Ermelandi was very probably written towards the end of the viiith century. It reports the merits of a monk who came from Fontenelle in 673 to found a monastery on the Indre island downstream from Nantes in the Loire estuary. The Vita provides some elements of reflection on the possible origins of Ermeland and its possible links with the Merlovingian royal power. Therein can be found as well an insight into monastic spirituality in the Nantes region before the upheavals wrought by the Norman invasions. This Vita, to conclude, was definitely influenced by certain works of Gregory the Great. |
