| Summary, etc. | RésuméDes prospections au sol menées assidûment depuis 2002 dans la vallée de la Scarpe (Nord) ont mis en évidence pour la première fois en France une « région de production » spécialisée dans la fabrication de terres cuites architecturales à l’époque romaine. Jusqu’à ce jour, à l’intérieur d’un rectangle d’environ 100 km2 de superficie, quinze ateliers de tuiliers ont pu être formellement identifiés, dont l’un, de surcroît, estampille ses productions (marques OF. TITICAE et variantes). D’ores et déjà, il est possible d’affirmer que ces découvertes ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives de recherches sur la production et la diffusion des terres cuites de construction en Gaule romaine. |

| Summary, etc. | Surface surveys thoroughly carried out since 2002 in the valley of the Scarpe river (Nord) resulted in the documenting, for the first time in France, of a « region of production » specialized in the manufacturing of architectural terracotta elements at the time of the Romans. So far, inside a rectangle stretching over about 100 km2 in area, fifteen roofing tile manufacturing workshops could be formally identified, among which one in particular stamps its productions (markings OF. TITICAE and variants). It is already possible to assert that these discoveries open new horizons of research on the production and the extent of the distribution area of construction terracotta in Roman Gaul. |
