| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’Allemagne, à la fin du xixe siècle, connaît une croissance urbaine sans précédent. Cette évolution entraîne une crise du logement à laquelle des solutions sont cherchées, aussi bien dans le financement de la construction qu’en matière d’architecture ou d’urbanisme. Malgré les efforts accomplis, l’offre reste insuffisante en 1914. Il revient à l’époque de la République de Weimar d’avoir résolu le problème en modifiant les données du financement public notamment avec « l’impôt sur le loyer », mais aussi en apportant de nouvelles techniques à l’art de construire, une nouvelle vision de l’architecture. Ce qui n’est pas sans rencontrer l’hostilité des milieux conservateurs. |

| Summary, etc. | Germany from Bismarck to the Weimar Republic, a Field of Experimentation for Collective HabitatGermany, at the end of the nineteenth century, knows an unprecedented urban growth. This growth results in a housing shortage and solutions are sought not only to the problem of the financing of construction, but also from the points of view of architecture and town planning. In spite of all the efforts that were made, the housing offer remains insufficient in 1914. It will then take the Weimar Republic to eventually solve the problem through a modification of the conditions of public funding, thanks notably to a « rent tax », and through promoting new construction techniques and a new approach to architecture. This in turn will be met by hostility from the part of the conservative circles. |
