| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa Revue du Nord exprime la diversité et la fécondité de la recherche historique sur la France du Nord, la Belgique et les Pays-Bas. M. Guignet propose une approche « sérielle » des contenus de la revue depuis un siècle. L’analyse des articles publiés entre 1910 et 2009 est hautement significative. Au cours de la période de construction (1910-1940), sous la houlette d’Alexandre de Saint-Léger, le principat de l’histoire médiévale est peu contesté, alors que l’histoire des années postérieures au Premier Empire pourvoit chétivement à moins de 10 % des contributions. Lorsque l’on examine les grands champs thématiques, on note que la grande absente des premières décennies est l’histoire religieuse et culturelle; a contrario, l’histoire politique lato sensu s’adjuge près de 60 % des articles. Après un redémarrage difficile au lendemain de la deuxième guerre mondiale, la Revue du Nord enregistre une progression assez impressionnante dans les années 1960 et 1970. Depuis trente ans, on peut parler d’un temps des épanouissements garanti par une mise à jour permanente des thématiques et des formes de transmission éditoriale. L’histoire contemporaine, comme dans beaucoup d’autres revues, devient la période la plus souvent abordée. La montée en puissance de l’histoire économique et sociale est manifeste à partir du début des années 1960; cette hégémonie ne s’achève qu’à la fin du xxe siècle, quand s’opère un rééquilibrage des grands domaines de la recherche. Le regain de vigueur de l’histoire politique sur des bases méthodologiques renouvelées est notable. La bonne tenue de l’histoire religieuse et culturelle résulte de la place appréciable de l’histoire de l’éducation et de celle de l’histoire du catholicisme et non de travaux d’anthropologie historique encore peu présents dans les colonnes du périodique. |

What the Serial Approach of Contents TellsThe Revue du Nord bears witness to the diversity and the fruitfulness of the historical research carried out on Northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands. M. Guignet proposes a « serial » approach of the contents of the journal over a century. The analysis of the contributions published between 1910 and 2009 brings very meaningful results. During the construction period (1910-1940), under the guidance of Alexandre de Saint-Léger, the precedence of mediaeval history is hardly questioned, while the history of the years that come after the First Empire provide a scanty 10 % of the contributions. When one surveys the major thematic fields, one notices that the major missing field is religious and cultural history; conversely, political history, lato sensu, secures nearly 60 % of the articles published. After a laborious recommencement in the wake of World War II, the Revue du Nord can claim a fairly impressive progression in the 1960s and 1970s. The past thirty years can be referred to as a period of accomplishment bolstered by a constant updating of the thematic fields of research and of the forms of editorial transmission. Contemporary history, as is the case with many other journals, has become the most widely dealt with period. The rise of economic and social history has been patent since the early 1960s; this hegemony comes to an end only at the end of the xxth century when a readjustment of the balance between the major fields of research occurs. The renewed dynamism of political history along overhauled methodological lines is worth noting. The resilience of religious and cultural history results from the notable share taken by the history of education and of that of catholicism and not from works of historical anthropology which can still hardly be seen in the pages of the journal. |
