| Summary, etc. | RésuméEn avril 2010, lors du programme de restauration engagé sur le site du forum de Bavay dans la partie des cryptoportiques, à l’entrée sud-est, un fragment d’inscription monumentale a été mis au jour lors des travaux de consolidation d’un pilier effondré. Ce petit bloc a été trouvé en situation de remploi dans une structure de la fin du IIIe siècle. Il porte un mot : Severu[s] et les restes de quelques lettres. Ce fragment, à la surface incurvée, provient probablement d’une borne routière de l’époque sévérienne soit du règne de Septime Sévère soit de celui de Sévère Alexandre. Cette borne pourrait avoir été présente sur le forum et avoir servi de premier repère de distance à ce chef-lieu de la cité des Nerviens. |

| Summary, etc. | Fragment of a Milestone with Inscription in Bagacum (Bavay)In April 2010, thanks to the enhancement programme carried out on the site of the Bavay forum in the area of the cryptoporticos, near the south-east entrance, a fragment of monumental inscription was discovered during the consolidation works of a collapsed pillar. This small block was found re-used in a structure of the late IIIrd century. One can read on it a word : Severu[s] and the remnants of a few letters. This fragment, whose surface is curved, probably was part of a milestone of the Severian period, belonging either to the reign of Septimus Severus or that of Severus Alexander. This milestone may have been erected in the forum to serve as distance reference point in the capital city of the Nervians. |
