| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’article propose un nouvel examen du dossier hagiographique de saint Léger d’Autun, une grande figure de l’histoire du royaume mérovingien du viie siècle et l’un des principaux protagonistes de la lutte que se livrèrent les aristocrates neustriens et bourguignons dans les années 660-670. Assassiné sur ordre du maire du palais Ébroïn en 679, il fut très vite l’objet d’un culte dont le succès reposa sur les différentes biographies qui lui furent alors consacrées. Cette étude revient plus particulièrement sur la troisième d’entre elles, longtemps considérée comme une compilation sans grande valeur des deux premières (rédigées respectivement à Autun et à Saint-Maixent, en Poitou), mais qui pourrait témoigner de l’intérêt que l’on portait à saint Léger au monastère Saint-Vaast d’Arras à la fin du viie siècle. |

| Summary, etc. | Saint Léger of Autun’s Cult, Saint-Vaast’s in Arras and the Pippinides at the End of the viith CenturyThe paper proposes a review of the hagiographic file of Saint Léger of Autun, a major figure in the history of the Merovingian kingdom in the viith century and one of the major protagonists of the struggle the Neustrian and Burgundian aristocrats waged against one another in the years 660-670. Assassinated under the orders of mayor of the palace Ebroin in 679, he quickly became the object of a cult whose success rested on the various biographies dedicated to his life at the time. The present study focuses more particularly on the third biography, long regarded as a compilation without real value of the first two (written respectively in Autun and in Saint-Maixent, in the Poitou), but which could illustrate the interest felt for saint Léger in Saint-Vaast’s monastery in Arras at the end of the viith century. |
