| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes archives du Pas-de-Calais conservent un ensemble de documents relatifs à l’interdiction des représentations de « Drame à Toulon » dans ce département à la fin de l’année 1951. Y figurent en particulier des photographies (dont l’original a été alors détruit par la police) d’acteurs interprétant dans les rues de Calais l’une des scènes de cette pièce interdite. Ces documents sont révélateurs du climat de guerre froide qui règne au début des années 1950. Le parti communiste s’efforce de susciter un vaste mouvement de sympathie autour d’Henri Martin et utilise pour cela des moyens très variés. L’affrontement entre le préfet et les communistes tourne alors plutôt, sur le littoral comme à l’intérieur du département, en faveur du premier fonctionnaire du département. Ce revers communiste n’empêche cependant pas la population du Pas-de-Calais, consciente du coût humain de la guerre, d’être de plus en plus hostile au conflit indochinois. |

| Summary, etc. | The Cold War in the Pas-de-Calais’s Coastal Region : Banned Performances of the ‘Drama in Toulon’ in Calais in December 1951The Pas-de-Calais archives keep a series of documents relative to the banning of the performances of the ‘Drama in Toulon’ in this department at the end of 1951. They include in particular some photographs (whose originals were then destroyed by the police) of actors performing in the streets of Calais one of the scenes of the banned play. These documents are very suggestive of the climate of cold war that prevails in the early 1950s. The Communist Party seeks to raise a wide-ranging movement of sympathy around Henri Martin and resorts for this purpose to highly diverse means. At the time the confrontation between the Préfet and the Communists turns rather in favor of the department’s highest-ranking official. This communist setback does not, however, stop the population of the Pas-de-Calais, aware of the human cost of the war, from being more and more opposed to the conflict in Indochina. |
