| Summary, etc. | L’ensemble des diagnostics et fouilles mené sur la commune de Villeneuve-d’Ascq durant ces quinze dernières années permet aujourd’hui de dresser un premier bilan des occupations du sol entre la Protohistoire et le haut Moyen Âge. Les vestiges anthropiques révèlent de nombreuses installations ouvertes ou encloses. Si certaines fosses ou certains silos permettent de révéler des occupations de la Protohistoire ancienne, la forme la plus caractéristique de ces implantations rurales est la ferme singularisée par un enclos et des bâtiments réalisés de terre et de bois durant la fin du second Âge du Fer et l’Antiquité. Les fonds de cabane sont l’expression architecturale de l’occupation du haut Moyen Âge. Le cœur de l’ancienne commune d’Annappes avec sa nécropole Bas-Empire/haut Moyen Âge et son exploitation rurale du premier Moyen Âge livre des informations remarquables sur le continuum d’occupation dans ce secteur de la commune. L’ensemble de ces nouvelles données permet de mettre à jour la carte archéologique éditée en 1996 et réalisée par Roland Delmaire. |

| Summary, etc. | A Glance at Land Occupation in Villeneuve-d’Ascq : From Protohistory to the Higher Middle AgesSystematic examination of the reports arising from the various evaluation and excavation operations carried out within the territory of the commune of Villeneuve-d’Ascq over the past fifteen years make it possible to complete a first assessment of land use and occupation from Protohistory to the Higher Middle Ages. Anthropic remains signal numerous open or enclosed structures. Whilst certain pits or silos point at ancient protohistoric occupation, the most characteristic form of these rural settlements comprises farmsteads. The latter are characterized by an enclosure, and with buildings constructed from timber and mud during the late La Tène Iron Age and into Antiquity. Building foundations constitute the architectural expression of Higher Middle Ages occupation. The heart of the former commune of Annappes with its Lower Empire/Higher Middle Ages cemetery and its first Middle Ages rural activity yields a remarkable range of information highlighting continuity of occupation in that part of the town. The collection of all these new data enables us to update the archaeological map drawn by Roland Delmaire and published in 1996. |
