| Summary, etc. | En 2013, un diagnostic sur la Zone Industrielle de Ruitz a permis de mettre au jour une sépulture secondaire à crémation. Celle-ci semble totalement isolée sur ce territoire qui fait l’objet depuis une dizaine d’années de diagnostics offrant une vision des occupations humaines sur près de 140 ha. Cette sépulture qui ne comporte d’aménagements spécifiques présente un amas osseux comprenant les restes d’un adulte et d’un enfant en bas âge. La morphologie de l’amas semble indiquer la présence d’un contenant périssable qui a pu être fermé avec la fibule retrouvée à sa surface. Le dépôt comportait cinq céramiques regroupées dans un angle du creusement, ainsi qu’une seconde fibule brisée intentionnellement et sans doute posée sur un support. L’ensemble de ces éléments indique une datation du début de la période gallo-romaine, entre 25/20 av. J.-C. et les premières décennies de notre ère. Bien qu’isolée, cette sépulture s’inscrit dans un territoire densément occupé depuis la fin de la période gauloise, mais dont les faits funéraires sont peu abondants et semblent plutôt se développer ponctuellement en périphérie des habitats ou en véritables nécropoles le long des voies. |

| Summary, etc. | A Gallo-Roman Isolated Cremation Grave in RuitzIn 2013 an archaeological investigation at the Ruitz industrial estate led to the discovery of a cremation grave. This feature seems totally isolated, that is, unassociated with other burials etc., lying within an area which over the past ten years has been subject to systematic archaeological examination, that has provided a view of the various human occupation phases over an area of more than 140 ha. This grave does not display a specific arrangement but rather comprises a cluster of bones including the remains of an adult and those of a young child. The morphology of the cluster seems to point to the use of a perishable container which might have been closed with the fibula found on top of it. The deposit included five pottery vessels gathered in an angle of the pit, as well as a second fibula intentionally broken and probably laid on a stand. As a whole these items point to a date stretching from the beginning of the Gallo-Roman period, between c. 25 and 20 BC, and the first decades of the first century AD. Although isolated this grave is not out of place in a territory densely populated by the end of the Iron Age, but whose funerary remains are rarely to be found and seem rather to occur occasionally in the periphery of dwelling sites or in more formal cemeteries along the roads. |
