| Summary, etc. | À l’aube des commémorations du Centenaire, l’archéologie de la Grande Guerre est devenue un domaine de cette science à part entière, archéologie préventive mais aussi programmée, s’emparant de plus en plus de ces problématiques sur l’ensemble des anciennes zones de combats. En raison de son positionnement géographique et de la présence d’archéologues sensibilisés dès les premières confrontations avec les vestiges de la Grande Guerre aux problématiques émergentes sur le sujet, la région Nord-Pas-de-Calais fait figure de terre pionnière en la matière. Nous essayons de retracer ici, par le biais de quelques exemples régionaux de fouilles emblématiques pour le sujet, l’histoire de sa participation particulièrement active à la fondation de cette discipline et le rôle majeur qu’ont tenu ces interventions de terrain dans la définition des problématiques qui guident désormais les recherches sur les anciennes lignes de front et leurs arrières. |

| Summary, etc. | On the eve of the commemoration of the Centenary, archaeology of the Great War has become an area of research in its full right, as preventive but also programmed archaeology more and more often take up this issue over the whole extent of the former combat zones. Through its geographical location and the presence of archaeologists made particularly sensitive to the questions raised by the specific context after their early confrontations with the remains of the Great War, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region appears now as a pionneer in this field. We are trying in this paper to give an account, based on a few examples of operations carried out in the region with an emblematic value on the topic, of the history of the particularly active part the region played in the foundation of this subject and the major role these field operations have played in the definition of the questions which now guide the research along the former front and rear lines. |
