Telle est la préoccupation de François Hébert par rapport à des enfants classés ou identifiés comme psychotiques ou autistiques. La désignation du symptôme a trop souvent tendance à servir de prétexte pour avoir une attitude de méfiance à l’égard de l’enfant différent. L’auteur présente alors deux cas de rencontre entre un éducateur et un enfant classé « psychotique » dans lesquels le dialogue a pu se nouer grâce à l’acceptation de ses émotions par l’éducateur et l’observation fine de la manière dont l’enfant réagissait aux différentes situations du quotidien de l’institution. La dimension du jeu au sens winnicottien est évoquée également. |
