| Summary, etc. | Ces dernières années, les discours sur le développement se sont renouvelés avec la question de la migration ; des chercheurs ont démontré que les remises financières des migrants vers leurs pays d’origine et le transnationalisme migratoire étaient synonymes de développement. Les résultats des recherches ne sont cependant pas toujours optimistes, certains présentant la migration comme un frein (et non un moteur) à la croissance. Une perspective centrée sur l’acteur-migrant permet de démontrer que la relation entre migration et développement n’est pas simplement positive ou négative mais ambivalente. Notre analyse porte sur la forte migration qui affecte la ville de Borsa, au nord de la Roumanie dont les conséquences sur la population locale sont sensibles. Notre étude évalue les effets de la mobilité sur le développement de la ville tout en intégrant les changements économiques dans l’ensemble complexe des mutations sociales provoquées par la migration. |

| Summary, etc. | Questions about migration have cropped up in discussions on development in recent years. Although research has shown that remittances from migrants and migrants’ transnationalism are often considered synonymous with development, the findings are not always so optimistic: some sceptics present migration as an impediment to economic growth. From an actor-oriented perspective, the relation between migration and development is shown to be neither positive nor negative but, instead, ambivalent. The strong migration from the town of Borşa in northern Romania has had a noticeable impact on the local population. The effects on the town’s development are assessed by placing these economic changes in the complicated context of the social changes wrought by migration. |
