Les conséquences en sont considérables pour les personnes qui vivent au contact quotidien de la frontière. L’article explore les transformations des activités locales des petits commerçants et des petits entrepreneurs à la frontière roumano-ukrainienne. Il analyse le lien entre ces changements, le renforcement de la réglementation concernant la frontière externe de l’UE, et les préparations à l’intégration de la Roumanie à l’espace Schengen. Il apparaît que si cette frontière est régulée de manière uniforme, elle est pratiquée de manière hétérogène. |

| Summary, etc. | Many significant changes have occurred in European border regimes ( e.g. visa and customs regulations) during recent years that have considerable consequences for people dealing with “the” border in their daily routines. The article discusses how far small-scale trade activities of petty traders and small entrepreneurs at the Romanian-Ukrainian border have changed and how these changes are related to an enforced EU external border regime and the preparation for fully joining the Schengen space. The aim of our paper is to demonstrate that this border, which is regulated as a uniform and common one, is not always enforced in the intended homogenous way. |
