| Summary, etc. | Cet article vise à combler un vide historiographique en se focalisant sur l’histoire de trois générations de footballeurs roubaisiens. Il cherche à renforcer les connaissances sur le rôle puissant et contesté du sport comme vecteur d’intégration sociale à Roubaix mais aussi à mener une réflexion sur le capital sportif. Au carrefour de quatre histoires (celles de Roubaix, de l’immigration, du travail et du football), cette contribution révèle les trajectoires biographiques de ces joueurs méconnus formant une élite renouvelée des années 1930 à nos jours. Leur formation, carrière et reconversion dans l’ancienne capitale mondiale du textile aux transformations urbaines et mutations sociales indéniables sont analysées grâce à dix-neuf entretiens et différentes sources comme les archives du Club Olympique Roubaix-Tourcoing. |

Professional and social integration from 1930’s to the present dayThis article aimed at filling a gap in the historiography by focusing on the history of three generations of roubaisian footballers. It seeked to reinforce knowledge on the powerful and contested role of sport as a vector of social integration in Roubaix but also to reflect on sports capital. At the crossroads of four stories (those of Roubaix, of immigration, of work and of football), this contribution reveals the biographical trajectories of these unknown players forming a renewed elite since the 1930’s. Their formation, career and reconversion in the former textile capital city to urban transformations and undeniable social changes were analyzed thanks to nineteen interviews and various sources such as the archives of the Club Olympique Roubaix-Tourcoing. |
